It truly has been a fantastic start to the year for Chris Mitchell and The Genuine Dining Co.
Not only has Chris been voted into the top 100 most powerful people in hospitality, but the London Stock Exchange recently placed The Genuine Dining Co. in the top 1,000 most inspirational companies in the UK.
To top it all off, Chris won the Foodservice Caterer of the Year Award at The Cateys last night.
The Cateys we’re established in 1984 and celebrate all that is great in UK hospitality. They showcase innovative brands and trail-blazing people from across hotels, restaurants, foodservice, pubs and bars.
It is a massive achievement to win an award at the Cateys as peers must nominate individuals and businesses.
Chris Mitchell talking about this year said:
“It makes you sit back and take everything in. Our Genuine Family has seen a lot of success over the years, and it is such a privilege to be rewarded for the hard work we all put in. Our business is growing but we haven’t changed much, our mantra hasn’t changed, we will always work hard to have the best people, serving the best food, having the most fun. For that hard work to be recognised is amazing!”
The success of The Genuine Dining Co. is all down to our amazing clients that have partnered with us and our vision. Thank you for your continued support. The accolades we win are all for you, and we hope you take as much pride away with you as we do.

Back in November 2017, GDC were invited into the headquarters of Mozzo, our fantastic coffee partner, who are fanatical about their beans, and have been on a journey of development.
On Friday 12th January, Genuine Foodies gathered together in a belated Christmas event to celebrate 2017, re-living the highlights, whilst being treated to decadent dishes and plenty to drink. Penyard House, an historic Genuine Hotel hidden in the Herefordshire countryside, opened its doors from 3pm to welcome guests from all corners of the UK, with attendees representing all companies of Group Genuine.
We are delighted to announce that The Genuine Dining Co. has been chosen as ‘Caterer of the Year’ at the 2017 Foodservice Cateys.
This prestigious award is a recognition of our drive and ability to deliver an exceptional service, day in, day out. The Genuine Dining Co. constantly challenge the definition of an outsourced foodservice, looking for new ways to innovate, develop and respond to changes within the UK hospitality scene.Read more
In August, chefs across the Genuine Dining Co. whipped out their spatulas and baked, piped and iced all manner of wonderful and tasty creations. From Reece’s pieces inspired treats to chocolate orange and pink, sprinkled icing, the competition was fierce. The pictures below of the competition entries will certainly get your mouth watering!
The cupcakes were scored out of thirty, with ten points each awarded for taste, presentation and creativity. After a week of scoring and more importantly, cupcake eating, the scores were finalised! It was a close call, but the winner was Kerri, with her Heavenly Divine Racker Lemon Cheesecake Cupcakes.
Kerri’s cupcakes proved too hard to resist as she sealed the deal with her lemon infused sponge, topped with cream cheese icing, biscuit crumbs and homemade candied lemon peel. These cupcakes are an indulgence not to be missed.
To celebrate National Cupcake Week from the 18th – 24th September, we encouraged chefs and customers of the Genuine Dining Co. to get involved and recreate the winning cupcake, using Kerri’s recipe.
An exclusive recipe card was distributed, encouraging bakers to get out their cake trays and rustle up a lemony delight. Check out our Instagram (thegenuinediningco) and Twitter (@GenuineDining) to see our celebrations of all things cupcake, in particular, our competition winining, Divine Racker cupcake.

We just love a winter wedding! The idea of a dusky winter colour palette mixed with touches of festive colours and décor along with lovely icy weather outside and roaring fires inside can make for a gorgeous occasion. That said, brides who have their hearts set on winter nuptials should tread carefully, as there’s a fine line between having a wintery celebration and ending up with an all-out Christmas theme.
That’s not to say that you shouldn’t acknowledge the season, but you want to ensure your guests don’t come away feeling like they’ve just been at a rather elaborate Christmas dinner as opposed to an actual wedding. Not sure where to begin? Read on for some tips from Samantha at The Wedding Secret to create an elegant winter wedding without the Christmas theme!
